The Adastral Park (AP) extension is part of a plan to redesign the idea of work in the largest tech space in the UK. AP is situated in the beautiful county of Suffolk. The 100-acre site is home to over 151 tech companies making it the tech capital of the UK. The work redesign process involves a reappraisal of the ‘outdoors’ as a potential extensive spatial tissue for work.
In order to improve the social and physical outlook of work and public access in the zone, the design of the outdoors creates a confluence of work, recreation and access in controlled and strategic overlaps. The interventions vary from panoramic work pods, to re-configurable masses of work and play across the large site with specifics on satisfying the various work typologies across the growing variety of tech companies on the site. This is orchestrated and proposed in relation to other development plans, especially those of expansion.
